Leo Santa Cruz (22-0-1-13KO) made his second title defense of his IBF Bantamweight championship against the determined Victor Zaleta (20-3-1-10KO) in what turned out to be an entertaining bout from start to finish. The output from both ends was ridiculous as more than a thousand punches by round seven were exchanged between the two warriors.

The champion dropped Zaleta for the first time in the 4th with his signature left hook, leaving Zaleta surprisingly coming back for more. Santa Cruz continued to strategically rip away at the body in a masterful science and walked Zaleta down to the beat of his own beat.

Props to Zaleta as he simply refused to quit and did his part in pressing the action in return but was outclassed by “El Terremoto”.  The bout was officially halted at 1:42 of the ninth after Zaleta was once again overwhelmed by the volume output by Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz has his eyes set against any of the other elite in the division and has proven he belongs in the upper echelons.
