September 29, 2012 – Former three division world champion, Vic Darchinyan (38-5-1, 27 KOs), showed he had another win left in him as he took on undefeated Puerto Rican sensation, Luis Orlando Del Valle (16-,1,0, 11 KOs), on HBO BOXING AFTER DARK®.

Darchinyan, known as the “Raging Bull” was returning from back to back losses to Japan’s Shinsuke Yamanaka(16-0-2, 11 KOs) and Panama’s Anselmo Moreno (33-1-1, 12 KOs) in world title fights. He was entering the ring against a much younger fighter and with questions looming if the former champ still had the fire.
From the opening bout Darchinyan was the aggressor, landing hard overhand rights and a series of body shots that Del Valle absorbed impressively. He showed the heart of a true Puerto Rican warrior but found himself getting out hustled by the veteran.

Del Valle managed to land a hard shot in the ninth that almost changed the tempo of the fight but he came on too late. He was not able to get a rhythm in the bout and had a hard time adapting to the awkward style of Darchinyan. What really hurt him was his lack of mobility which Darchinyan took full advantage of.

Darchinyan walked away with a new set of hardware and a well deserved unanimous decision in a bout that kept spectators entertained with non-stop action from both fighters.
