Friday Night Fight’s season closer went out with a fizzle. After Adonis Stevenson had to withdraw earlier this week, the fight card had to do a little shuffling. The co feature ended up being Donovan “Da Bomb” George who was to fight Stevenson in a title eliminator, instead got five day replacement Dionisio Miranda. Moved up to the main event was hard knock life fighter Carlos Molina against Damian Frias.

The co-feature lacked early fireworks. Rounds one and two turned out to a feeling out process for Donovan “Da Bomb” George and Dionisio Miranda. As the third round came on George started to apply the pressure and wear down the late replacement. By the 6th round, “Da Bomb” was lit and started to unload on Miranda. At the end of the 6th round the ref went over to Miranda’s corner and put a stop to the bout seeing that he just didn’t have it tonight. Donovan George wins via TKO in the 6th round and is now resetting the match up with Adonis Stevenson for sometime in October.

In the night’s main event, the tough lucked Carlos Molina looked to get back on track after his lost to James Kirkland earlier this year. Damian Frias had won three straight via TKO coming in to this bout, so the consensus was there was going to be some back and fourth action. We were wrong.

From opening bell Molina set the tone for the night, starting with body work to the first two rounds. For the rest of the fight he got in and out, never letting Frias get any sort of rhythm going. It went the full ten rounds with Molina pitching a complete shut out on all three judges score cards of 100-90 for the win. Carlos has the kind of style that you just can’t overlook, so it will be interesting to see if any name fighters take a chance and a fight with him any time soon.
