Much of the focus in the industry regarding September 15th’s showdown has been swallowed up between Mexican icons Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. battling for viewer’s attention on separate networks.

Equally as appealing that evening is the undercard of Alvarez-Lopez; particularly the bout between Argentinian slugger and former champion Marcos Maidana (31-3, 28KO) and Jesus Soto Karass (26-7-3, 17KO).

Both fighters are entering into this match with mixed opinions from viewers based on recent performances, however one thing remains undeniable, they share fan friendly styles and are not afraid to stand in the pocket and trade. Most expect nothing less than a bloody war with at least one guaranteed to hit the canvas and the other possibly taking home the six figure “K.O. Bonus”.

Maidana may be able to convince some that he can hang with the big boys at a higher division, regardless of his previous performance vs Devon Alexander and Soto Karass may change opinions of him not belonging on big ticket cards all together. With a definitive win, each fighter has the opportunity to erase memories of lackluster performances leading up to fight night and hold stake of a reputation worthy of keeping fan’s attention.
