Maidana to Stand His Ground at Welterweight

Argentine heavy-hitter and crowd pleaser Marcos Maidana (31-3-28KO), has sent word that in route to his move to 147 lbs to face formidable Jesus Soto Karass (26-7-3-17KO) on the September 15th undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs Josesito Lopez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, that he plans to remain in the division and seek a title at welterweight.

Though Maidana is at an obvious disadvantage in size with other known welterweights, it is common knowledge in the boxing world that Maidana can pack a punch hence his 28KOs out of 31 victories.  His bout against Karass in September is expected to be nothing less than an all out slugfest between the two and Maidana is already in full swing with preparations for the new weight class.  Whether or not he can hang with the big dogs of the division will be partly gauged upon his performance against Karass.
