Former champion and successful promoter Ricky Hatton has caused recent buzz in the industry surrounding a possible ring return.

Although semi-retiring after suffering two defeats to pound for pound greats Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao followed by battling addiction problems, Hatton had already won his share of title belts and beat many good fighters during his run

He was the first to beat Kostya Tszyu (who had gone undefeated for 8 years) in 2005, sending him into retirement and taking Tszyu’s title. Later he beat Luis Collazo’s for his title then went back to Jr. welterweight and beat Juan Urango, stopped Jose Luis Castillo with a body shot and halted Paulie Malignaggi (who has been newly resurrected) with his constant pressure style assault; all notable achievements.

So, Hatton has had a successful career and is still of value to the sport should he re-dedicate himself for a comback fight, lend his services as a commentator with his colorful personality or continue as a promoter.

Perhaps a surefire shoe-in for the hall of fame based on his current accomplishments alone even if he was not to return to the ring.
